Explore the Outdoors in Devon!
Devon is a jewel nestled into the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, strategically located 20 minutes southwest of Edmonton and 10 minutes from the Edmonton International Airport. Most people that drive by have no idea of the treasures that Devon offers: an 18-hole golf course, a mountain bike skills park, a boat launch, a campground and an extensive trail system that ties everything together. Devon is an active member of the River Valley Alliance (RVA) and a proud supporter of this world class trail system that will link Devon to Fort Saskatchewan.
Investing in trails and partnerships is part of council’s larger plan to encourage healthy, active living. Devon was recently branded as Bike Town Alberta, a concept that extends beyond cycling to providing accessible trails and promoting nearby recreational activities, from water sports to snow sports, from cycling to horseback riding. For instance, after trying out the Riverview Mountain Bike Skills Park, visitors will soon be able to walk, rollerblade or ride to the nearby Devonian Botanic Garden using RVA trails. The boat launch at Voyageur Park is already a popular river access point, complete with a sand area, gazebo, picnic tables, fire pits and washroom facilities.
In the winter, Devon boasts 12 kilometres of groomed classic ski trails and beautiful snowshoeing opportunities. Greater Edmonton’s largest downhill ski resort, Rabbit Hill Snow Resort, is just moments away. Triple chairlift, t-bars, rope tows and extensive snowmaking and grooming equipment make this a very popular winter destination. Whether you come for a day or stay for a week, Devon has outdoor opportunities for every age and skill level.
