As the RVA nears completion of our Phase I Capital Program (2012-2017), we are now seeking funds for Phase II (2018-2022). The $100 Million Phase II program will focus on completing regional connectivity and access, consisting of 13 new projects, including 33 kms of new trails, four footbridges, a series of boat access projects, and a waterfront promenade.
Similar to the Phase I Program, Phase II would be supported through a 1/3 funding model from municipal, provincial, and federal levels of government.
Phase I ($90 Million) consisted of 13 projects focused on connecting the river valley park’s existing trail system. This includes creating 70 kms new trails, enhancing access to the river through a series of boat docks, the world’s second longest stressed ribbon suspension bridge, and Alberta’s first river valley funicular.
This progress would not have been possible without the generous contributions from municipal, provincial, and federal levels of government.
